Duomo, MilanMilan: excellent party atmosphere, fine food, ice cream to die for, superb coffee and fantastic shopping - and that’s apart from the fabulously grand buildings and history!

The fashion capital of Italy, Milan is probably one of, if not THE trendiest and hip cities in Europe. In Milan it’s all about how you look and how tight your jeans are - especially the boys! Shopping…girls it’s fantastic, and you absolutely mustn't miss out on the shoes. But don’t expect any great bargains.

The cafe culture here is huge and although the smoking ban hit Milan a couple of years ago it, quite frankly, seems to make no difference. Everyone in Milan smokes anyway - or seems to! You can sit and people watch for hours and you’re guaranteed to see some sights! As for the guys, well they really do seem to be trying to compete for the ‘best bum’ competition. In the interests of science, I felt I had to check some out.....see picture across!
Follow Me - MilanCorso Como is Milan’s big party street with at least four big discotecs…..yes yes I know you’re thinking: ‘Discotec, isn’t that rather 80’s?’. But that’s what they still call them in Italy. The main street is also packed with bars; they’re a little pricey but have a great atmosphere. Club entry fees vary, but expect to pay up to 25 euros each. Be sure to dress to impress. Girls, get your glad rags on; it’s all about how you look.
Milan Fashion WeekIf you want to get noticed then head to Hollywood, also in the Corso Como district. This is the most famous nightclub (sorry discotec) in Milan, where anybody who’s anybody hangs out apparently! It does get pretty packed with tourists, so if you’re looking for a more traditional night out with the locals then head over to Old Fashion a nightclub in the Vle Alemagna 6 district, set within the pretty park of Parco Sempione. It’s a contemporary, open air night club and is just fab. However, it doesn’t open until around 11.30pm, by which time the queue is pretty big, and the action kicks off around midnight! A tip: if you are able to, go online and make a table reservation, otherwise you will find yourselves standing all night. All the tables here are reserved and they are very strict about this. Old Fashion fills up pretty quickly, and plays some funky dance tunes outside. They also have an indoor area with another dance floor and non-members or anyone without a reservation can stay in here, but then you do miss out on the atmosphere and coolness of the ‘open air feel’ . Drinks are pretty expensive, so be prepared. The average price is about 10 Euros yep, and that’s just for a single measure (ouch). The club also has a restaurant and if you book a table, you’ll get access without queuing.
Ciao ......
